LuLu's Love Fund
LuLu's Love Fund is a charitable effort created by Lucy Buffett in 2006, to support the under-funded Baldwin County Public School System's art programs. From watching musicals with her mother to listening to her brother sing, Buffett admits that the arts have always been a big part of her life. The fundraiser is designed to benefit art education in Baldwin County Public Schools, and funds are distributed through the school system's Instructional Support Department.
Last year, LuLu's Love Fund presented $24,361.37 to Baldwin County Public Schools, most of which came from the proceeds of two sold-out presentations in Fairhope of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival's performance of "Gee's Bend." The donations have been used in various ways, all significantly impacting art education.
"Lucy Buffett has been an exemplary Partner in Education, " said Dr. Faron L. Hollinger, Superintendent for Baldwin County Public Schools. "Our students have been able to go above and beyond with their fine arts accomplishments because of her and for that we're most grateful. "
Buffett continues outreach through her debut cookbook, Crazy Sista Cooking,.., Cuisine and Conversation with Lucy Buffett. One dollar from the sale of each book will be donated to Art Education in Baldwin County Public Schools through LuLu's Love Fund.
Other fundraising events associated with the charitable organization include the Annual BooLu's Haunted House, a songwriters' field trip and lunch during the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival and LuLu's Fresh Art Market.
